I was so so happy that R.A. Dickey won the NL Cy Young award, he is a fantastic pitcher and a former Minneosta Twin. He had a fantastic season having 20 wins.
Of course, i was thrilled with the winner of the AL as well. I was anxiously waiting in my basement to figure out who won. Once I found out that David Price was the AL Cy Young winner, I screamed! I was so so excited. Not other does he happen to be my favorite pitcher, he is also a fantastic player. Always giving credit to his teammates, he definitely had a Cy Young year.
Season Highlights:
I was going to have a entire blog entry about my favorite moments this season, but since I have just ran out of time, I'll just write a little bit.
5). All of the no-hitters, pefect games. I just think it's awesome that there were so many this season. Both the Twins and Rays had a no-hitter (perfect game) thrown against them, but I think it's awesome no matter who throws them. My favorite was Johan Santana's no-hitter, a former Minnesota Twin and an awesome person.
4). Seeing Jim Thome play in person. This was one of the coolest things for me to witness. I've always loved Jim Thome, the way he played the game and treated people. I got to see him play at Target Field when he was with the Orioles for possibly the last time ever. It's been something I have always wanted to do and I finally got to cross it off my bucket list this summer.
3). Watching the Giants win the World Series. I will be the first one to admit that I only watched one game of post-season. I was super busy and never had time to actually sit down and watch a game, but I made sure to be able to watch the final game of the world series. I was cheering for the Giants to win and when Romo got the final out and Buster Posey ran out to him, I teared up. I'm not even a Giants fan, but I just love the emotion these players show.
2). Attending win-win weekend. AH. I bet most people are surprised this isn't number 1, but you won't be shocked at number 1 either. This was SUCH a cool experience for me. I know I wrote an entire post about my incredible weekend, but I'll highlight a few things again. I never could of imagined how spoiled I was that weekend. It's amazing what twitter can do and what these players do for their fans. I got to meet Ryan Roberts, Alex Cobb and David Price.
1). Obviously was meeting David Price. I'll never forget in April when he said he would come take a picture with me. Come August, the promise was kept after I waited by the 3rd baseline for an hour, almost leaving because I didn't think he was going to sign. Then receiving my DMs and tweets from David, that was a night I'll never forget and I'm just so amazed by David's love for his fans, even if we live in Minnesota :)
I'm hopefully going to be able to blog a little more often now that swimming is over for now. I'm hoping to start a Q & A and post around Christmas. I hope you all have a fantastic Holiday season and I hope that you all take time to follow my new twitter. @AllThings_Bsbll.
